Once again, Podcasting Veteran, James Martell and Digital Marketing Strategist, Kimberly Juchnowski are tucked into the secret beach hut studio to discuss the secrets of creating a successful podcast, and making that podcast into the cornerstone of a lifestyle business. This week, James and Kimberly are joined by John Lim. John’s inspiring podcast, Moving Forward, focuses on telling the stories of ordinary people who take giant leaps to do extraordinary things.
That’s how John describes himself. John practice law in the DC area then went on to work in sales and marketing, and accounts management at prominent Fortune 500 companies. John is a skilled public speaker, accustomed to giving high-level presentations, webinars and seminars. John also worked as an actor, doing productions for The National Geographic Channel, The History Channel and HBO. Lawyer, salesman, and actor- it really does sound like career wanderlust. You would think having served as the helmsman of a starship would have given him a sense of direction, but maybe it only added to the itchy feet. That’s right, John played the young Lt. Commander Sulu on Star Trek New Voyages which led to an audition for the 2009 Star Trek film.
John recently found himself having a “quarter-life crisis” and responded by becoming an entrepreneur and co-founding BeMovingForward.com. He is a regular keynote speaker, guest lecturer and featured panelist for The Johns Hopkins’ Carey Business School, produces The Blue Collar MBA and has been guest on other people’s podcasts.
John got inspired one day when he accidently stumbled upon the podcast Entrepreneur on Fire. He started thinking about all of the interesting people he knew, with interesting stories to tell, and decided that it would be selfish to keep them all to himself. His podcast identifies people who have something interesting to say, but don’t have an outlet for sharing with the rest of the world. Many of the guests are escapees who left Corporate America, with its long days and small cubicles, behind to create a better life. They share their stories, as well as the habits of success on John’s podcast.
John will tell James and Kimberly how he goes about finding guests for his show, now that he’s exhausted the resources in his phone book. He’ll discuss the complementary areas that he and his co-host focus on, and gives an inspiring answer when James asks him what he would do differently if he could start over again.
Whether you’re building membership sites or trying to monetize an eBook, James and Kimberly want to share the tools you’ll need for creating a successful podcast. Listen now to hear:
