In this episode of Podcasting Mastery, James Martell tucked into the ‘Secret Beach Hut Studio’ talks with with Jorge Hermida, a.k.a. Brasco, Executive Producer at WebmasterRadio.FM about how to create a professional podcast and attract influential guests.
Brasco has more than 20,000 podcast episodes to his credit, and is my producer for the last 350+ episodes for my Affiliate Buzz podcast also at WebmasterRadio.FM. He also independently hosts the “Wrestling is Real Podcast” and the “Creative Not Corporate Pop Culture and Media Podcast”.
James goes on to point out that “Brasco knows more about podcasting than most of even the most successful podcasters”, and has many tips to share from over a decade of experience.
Starting a podcast takes planning to keep listeners engaged and coming back. They are not interested in “fluff” and rambling guests, and they want you to “get down to business” with real tips they can apply. Having a plan, an outline and properly preparing your guests is crucial. Just get in there and practice, don’t expect to be perfect, but strive to improve. There are many little things that can go wrong, but when identified, can be improved and bad habits can be eliminated.
Brasco emphasizes the importance of quality sound, being in the right environment and where to buy the perfect headset designed for podcasting. He explains the different software choices for recording and editing your podcast and how to enrich the sound yourself.
There are several ways to monetize your podcast from placing ads or commercials, to self sponsored commercials to promote own products and services. Learn how to make the ads entertaining, thought provoking and worthwhile to your audience and the proper placement of ads.
