History: On or Offline Business

Gary opened his first retail store in the 1980’s and got customers by going door to door and asked them if they needed mini-blinds. Gary started his first eCommerce Website in 1996, and it focused on wallpaper. He launched his first podcast in 2004 as a means for advertising.

Gary uses podcasts to market his retail softball and wallpaper stores. He used to spend $10,000 a month in advertising using Google AdWords. Now, he does not have to spend any money on advertising because he uses his own podcasts and content. You can make money from your podcasts and build your brand!

Podcast Trends

Some people are hesitant to start a podcast because they do not want to do it forever. So, an episodic series that goes on for a full year or 10 episodes and then ends are becoming a trend in podcasting. You gain an audience and create a fan base.

Plus, if your podcast content is “evergreen”, it’ll never get stale or out-dated. Softball is a great example of evergreen content because softball really does not change. Gary develops podcast content out of mini softball clinics and other related events. If your content is good for a long time, it will be very valuable to you and your business.

Building Your Brand and Monetizing a Podcast

Gary has done that with softball. He basically can’t go anywhere without someone knowing him from his softball podcasts.

He has people coming to him to offer content. Building a personal brand helps you sell more than you think. You have exclusive advertising spots.
